At only 22 years of age, Nikki Reed already has a number of strings to her bow and can list TV actress, TV host, movie actress and movie screenwriter amongst her successes to date. She has been working in show business since her early teens and, with the talent she has displayed, it looks like her achievements to date will be added to in future years.
Nikki Reed was born on the 17th May 1988, the second child of set designer, Seth Reed and beautician Cheryl Houston. She did not have the easiest of upbringings, as her parents were to divorce when she was still a toddler and she was subsequently raised by her mother. Although admitting herself that she was shy in her younger years, she was to go through a rebellious period when she hit her teens and by the time she was 14 she had left home and was living on her own.
Although largely know for her acting, her first break in show business was to come through screen writing. When she was still in her early teens she worked with director Catherine Hardwicke to produce the screenplay for the movie “Thirteen”. This was semi-autobiographical and the hard hitting nature of the script meant that the producers of the movie had problems casting it. For this reason Reed was asked to play a role in the movie and she was to do this to some good reviews.
Following the success of “Thirteen”, Reed was to return to her school in Los Angeles. However after a year of this she quit and was to finish her schooling at home. During this time she was to star in further movies, typically being cast as the sexy bad girl character and this included roles in movies such as “Lords of Dogtown” and “Mini’s First Time”. She also moved into television acting, landing a role in The O.C. as well as making a guest appearance in an episode of “Justice”. On television she was also to act as host for a few award shows in 2003 and 2004 and this included The Young Hollywood Awards and the West Independent Spirit Awards.
Reed has also enjoyed success acting in the movie adaptations of the popular Twilight series. She took on the role of Rosalie Hale in the original 2008 movie and has subsequently reprised the character in the New Moon and Eclipse movies of the Twilight series. It is likely that this will continue when the next saga of the Twilight saga, Braking Dawn is filmed.
The success that Reed has achieved in her young life has already been recognized by the show business industry. In 2004 she received an Independent Spirit Award jointly with Catherine Hardwicke for her work on the screenplay of the movie “Thirteen”. At the 2010 Young Hollywood Awards she also received an award for Superstar in the Making showing that her undoubted talent will more than likely earn her great success in the years to come.
Although young, Nikki Reed has shown over the past seven years that she has the talent and determination to make it big in the world of show business. She has achieved much success already and with further movies to be released in 2010 and 2011 in which she will star she is a name to watch out for. She is likely to be a feature in Hollywood as both an actress and screen writer in future years.
