Scones aren’t just for tea anymore. They have gone from the classics teatimes.They are addition to almost any meal now.
Scones make the most of basic : Flour, chemical leavener ( baking powder or soda )
sugar, butter, milk or cream, and eggs.
Cream Scones :
3 cups bread flour
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups heavy cream
2 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons coarse sugar for topping
Sift the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt together into a mixing bowl. Add the cream to the flour mixture and stir by hand just until the batter is evenly moistened
Place the dough in the line cake pan and press into an even layer. Cover the dough with the second parchment paper circle. Freeze the dough until very firm, at least 12 hour’s.
Preheat the oven to 350F. Prepare the cooking spray and the parchment paper.
Thaw the dough for 5 minutes at room temperature. Cut the dough into 10 equals vedge and place them on baking sheet. Brush the scones with milkand sprinkle with athe coarse sugar.
Bake the scones until golden brown, 30 – 40 minutes. Cool them for few minutes. Serve them at room temperature or warm.
– Dried cherry scones- add one cup of cherry to the dry ingredients just before blending in the cream.
