Stanley Tucci

Stanley Tucci Jr. was born on Nov 11, 1960 in Peekskill, New York to Italian-Americans, Joan and Stanley Tucci. He grew up in Katonah, New York with three siblings. His younger sister, Christina Tucci is an actress who appeared in NBC’s cancelled soap opera, Another World. His family lived in Florence, Italy in the 1970s, but they returned to New York after a year of living in Florence. After graduating from John Jay High School, Tucci attended State University of New York in Purchase where he received a degree in Acting.

His acting career began in the fall of 1982 on Broadway when he had a small part in The Queen and The Rebels. Three years later, Tucci made his film debut in Prizzi’s Honor. From 1987 to 1995, Tucci made guest appearances in several television series and had supporting parts in films. From 1995 to 1996, Tucci starred as the charming philanthropist, Richard Cross on ABC legal drama, Murder One. During 1995, Tucci also married social worker, Kate Spath.

In 1996, Tucci took a major step in his career. He starred in Big Night, a film that he co-wrote with his cousin, Joseph Tropiano and co-directed with Campbell Scott. The film debuted at the Sundance Film Festival and earned Tucci and Tropiano an Independent Spirit Award for Best First Screenplay. During 1998, Tucci received a Screen Actors Guild and Golden Globe nomination as the titular character in HBO film, Winchell.

In 2000, He appeared in TNT short-lived television drama, Bull. Also, Tucci and his wife became parents to twins, Isabel Concetta and Nicolo Robert. Tucci starred HBO film, Conspiracy as Albert Eichmann which earned another Golden Globe nomination in 2001. Tucci was nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in the 2002 revival of Frankie and Johnny in the Claire de Lune. Tucci also became a father to his third child, a daughter named Camilla in 2002.

During July 2006, Tucci appeared in the television series, Monk. He won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his work on Monk. Tucci went on to portray Dr. Douglas Hanson in CBS medical drama, 3 lbs. in 2006. However, after three episodes aired, the series was cancelled. In 2007, Tucci appeared alongside Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Anne Hathaway in The Devil Wears Prada. He also had a recurring role in NBC medical drama, ER.

Tragedy struck Tucci’s family in 2009 when his wife, Kate passed away from breast cancer. Despite this tragedy, Tucci’s career continued to take off. He played alongside Meryl Streep again as her character’s husband in Julia & Julia. He also portrayed George Harvey, a pedophile and serial killer of young girls in The Lovely Bones. Tucci received critical praise for his work in the film and was nominated for a Golden Globe and Academy Award.

During 2012, Tucci appeared in The Hunger Games and released a cookbook. He also married Felicity Blunt, sister of Emily Blunt, Tucci’s co-star on The Devil Wears Prada.
