If you want a prime vacation spot for spring, consider Oklahoma City.
Oklahoma City has more than horses and cattle to round up. This city has something for everyone.
It is a great Spring vacation spot because as early April approaches, the weather is a warm 75 degrees on average; a perfect temperature for outdoor activities like visiting the Oklahoma City memorial.
It is located at 620 N. Harvey Avenue in Oklahoma City. If you would like to visit the memorial museum, you can call for hours of operation and fees by calling 405-235-3313 or 888-542-HOPE (4673)*. (*Note: There is no charge to tour through the memorial area, just the museum.)
Another great place to visit while in Oklahoma City is the Oklahoma City zoo.
The Oklahoma City Zoo is located at 2101 NE 50th St. and has been open since 1904. It is considered the oldest zoo in the Southwest. The Oklahoma City zoo was also ranked #3 as the most family friendly zoo in the United States by Child Magazine in 2004! The zoo also has a special recognition of being a botanical garden too!
The zoo has paved trails that spans over the 110 acres the zoo inhabits, with refreshing misting machines for visitors that plan on getting a great walking workout while enjoying the awesome foliage and beautiful flowers planted along the paths. They also have a daily tram which for a small fee, you can get a great ride across the zoo, and learn in the process. We usually walk, but once we took the tram and it was a very educational experience. For more information on the zoo, email them at http://www.okczoo.com/visi_cont.htm or call them at (405)-424-3344.
Oklahoma City also has fairgrounds that are open all year. The Fairgrounds always have some type of attraction like shows, rodeos, or discount markets.
Other fun activities include The historical Harn homestead for history fanatics, The Myriad gardens, one of the most beautiful botanical gardens I have ever been to, the Omniplex-a science museum that is located right next door to the zoo, and very family friendly (If you have children).
OKlahoma City also has relaxation just for adults at one of the restaurants in Bricktown, or gamble at one of the casinos. For some quiet time, visit one of our large lakes and have a picnic lunch.
Whatever you decide to do in Oklahoma City, you can bet you can find something here that everyone will enjoy; Spending time together.
