Magic the Gathering Card Analysis Isamaru Hound of Konda

Magic the Gathering Card Analysis Isamaru Hound of Konda

“Isamaru, Hound of Konda” is a 2/2 legendary white hound printed as a rare for the Magic the Gathering expansion set known as “Champions of Kamigawa.”  This is a pretty decent card if you are playing a mono-white deck.  If you are playing aggressively, Isamaru, Hound of Konda makes a good card.  In an EDH (Elder Dragon Highlander) format, Isamaru, Hound of Konda does seem to be an interesting general.  With certain cards on the battlefield, you can get much use out of Isamaru, Hound of Konda.

The converted mana cost for Isamaru, Hound of Konda is one.  You will need one white mana to play Isamaru, Hound of Konda from your hand onto the battlefield.  For what Isamaru, Hound of Konda can do, the one white mana is worth it.  You are getting a 2/2 for one white mana.  Keep in mind that Isamaru, Hound of Konda is a legendary creature and is subject to the “legendary rule.”  Should there be two cards on the battlefield named Isamaru, Hound of Konda, they both get sent to the graveyard.

What does Isamaru, Hound of Konda do in the first place? Even though Isamaru, Hound of Konda is a legendary creature, it has no special abilities.  However, do not let that turn you off.  If you think about it, you can get a good start on your opponents with that card.  If you think about it carefully, you have a 2/2 creature for only one white mana.  This is a shining example on how white does not necessarily depend on mana acceleration.  Many white cards are low cost.  Isamaru, Hound of Konda only costs one white mana.

By your next turn, you can attack with Isamaru, Hound of Konda.  If you are going first, you do have the advantage.  Against a control deck, you can keep attacking with Isamaru, Hound of Konda for a few turns.  You can swipe off at least four to six life points off your opponent in this respect.  Against a red deck, an opponent may have a spell like “Lightning Bolt” or “Incinerate” ready.

This also makes a good general for EDH due to one factor: casting cost.  Should Isamaru, Hound of Konda get sent to the graveyard, you simply have to pay one white and two colorless mana to bring Isamaru, Hound of Konda back.  You have more chances to bring it back onto the battlefield.  It also increases your chances of being able to defeat an opponent with general damage.

Overall, Isamaru, Hound of Konda is a pretty decent card to have.  In Extended or EDH, this is a pretty decent card to have.  Also, you can always enchant and equip Isamaru, Hound of Konda.
