Recipes Barbecue Meatballs

Barbecue meatballs are a relatively quick and easy recipe to make for dinner or as a party appetizer. These are made with ground beef, pork, garlic, onion, and other ingredients and topped off with a homemade barbecue sauce.

2 pounds ground beef
1 pound ground pork
1/4 chopped very finely chopped onion
2 eggs beaten
1 1/2 cup fine bread crumbs
1 tsp garlic powder (more or less to taste)
2 tsp salt (more or less to taste)
1/2 tsp pepper (more or less to taste)

1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 cups ketchup
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp dry mustard
1/2 salt
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cover large baking sheet in foil and spray with cooking oil. In a large bowl, add all the ingredients for the meatballs. Mix well. Form the mixture into 1 inch balls and add to baking sheet. Cook about 30 minutes or until meatballs are browned. Remove and drain off fat.
While meatballs are cooking, prepare the barbecue sauce. Add the oil to a large pan and add the chopped onion. Cook several minutes until tender. Add all remaining barbecue sauce ingredients and simmer on low about 10 minutes. Add the drained meatballs, cover, and keep on low heat until serving. (can also add the meatballs and sauce to crock-pot on low for several hours if desired)
