Where To Golf In Europe

Where To Golf In Europe

Dreaming of golfing in Europe? Here are three of my favourite destinations. All three were fantastic weeks, however very different from one another. I will breakdown the resorts in no particular order. I would return to all of them in a heartbeat.

The Pehna Longa Hotel & Golf in Portugal is great for the golfers who like to settle in for the week and stay on the resort. The short transfer time from Lisbon to the resort makes this an easy travel day. The accommodations and services are first class. There are several restaurants in the hotel each one worthy of a repeat visit. The golf facility has a nice driving range and short game area with good quality range balls. The course itself is on the challenging side. I recommend a power cart to help with the hills. These are some of the fastest greens that I’ve played. I thoroughly enjoyed my week here. This is definitely the place for the golfer who wants a straight forward first class golf vacation.

The Gloria Golf Resort in Belek Turkey is perfect for the golfer searching for a variety of course close to the hotel. The transfer time from the airport is about 1hr. This resort features 5 star accommodations several in house restaurants and a great view of the Mediterranean Sea. Here you have a dozen golf courses to choose from. Each one is less than a 15 min shuttle. The transfer are very efficient and comfortable. I recommend playing as many golf course as possible, none of them will disappoint. As for your meals, I ate all my lunches at the golf course played that day. Breakfast and dinner was outstanding at the hotel. Don’t skip breakfast, you’ll miss out on a great meal. The golfer wanting variety in golf courses yet great meals within the resort, you can’t go wrong with Turkey.

My final suggestion is my personal favourite. The Costa Del Sol, in Spain is where I feel the most comfortable. You fly to Malaga and drive roughly 1hr to Marbella. The Hotel El Paraiso in Estepona offers 4 star accommodations in a prime location for golf. The Costa Del Sol might as well be called the Costa Del Golf. Here you have everything from Mountain Golf, Night golf to championship golf courses, all within 30 mins of the hotel. Breakfast here is great. A beautiful buffet with great views of the Mediterranean sea. My favourite places for dinner are; La casa de mi Abuela and El Cazador, both located in Estepona. The Alcaidesa golf course is worth the 45 min drive towards Gibraltar. It’s the only links golf course on the coast. If you want a little more freedom on your vacation this is definitely the place for your next European golf vacation.
